Still Searching For A Sewing Spot

Well...back in December, the sewing machine started off on the dining room table. We then moved it into the sunroom, but the way we had the space set up was just too tight. Next, we tried it here next to the bar counter in the kitchen/playroom. This just doesn't work either. I don't want to give up all that counter space for the cutting mat.

We discussed more options and I think we're going to move the sunroom around (again) and see if we can't get a good sewing spot. Also considering making the living room into the "Lego Room", there are some clear benefits to doing so.

Carpet Cleaning

This gives you the idea! I put two photos together so you can see what the room looks like now! This room has been TRANSFORMED! This room will be used by the kids for lots of play! We still have a ways to go because we tossed things on the table and on top of the bookcases, but with the carpet clean and room tidy it feels fantastic!

Here's a BEFORE pic of the playroom that is also pieced together...we put two 8' counters against the fireplace. These counters split the room in half. We thought the kids would use these flat surfaces for playing, but they just ended up collecting stuff. We put them back in the garage right before painting.
and here they are together:

Final Playroom (Corner)-Before and After

I just can't even believe I'm posting this! The FINAL playroom pics! John was the wind beneath my wings for the last push. We had the carpets cleaned yesterday so that deadline really motivated us to get everything off the floor!

Playroom Status

Playroom update:
Walls have been painted. Bookcases are assembled. New table is assembled and placed in front of the fireplace. Countertops removed from room.

WHEN the junk gets cleared out, the kids will have an entire FLOOR to play on! Various items will be stowed in their cubbies in the bookcases.

Sunroom update:
Sewing table assembled. New chair assembled. White table moved to back up to sewing table. Decided to leave desk in corner to use as a cutting and ironing station. This is a great improvement as we can leave the sewing machine out to be used any time.

Next:
Sort through junk in both rooms.

This Is THE Color

When I went to buy paint, I took my 2nd favorite color with me...my jammies! I went to my favorite paint store (Parker Paint) and selected the closest color from the fan. Now that the paint is dry, wondering how well it matches. Wow! No wonder I love it on the walls!
Top: no flash (untouched)
Bottom: with flash

What is my favorite color? PERIWINKLE!

This periwinkle is PMS 272 in care of RGB. Well, it's close. I've done a lot of painting with "lilac" and since the playroom doesn't have any windows, I opted for something brighter?

Speaking of color...a few current favorite fabrics:
1)Dahlia Mist-Terrain by Kate Spain for Moda
2)Blue Floral-Pam Kitty Morning by Pam Vieira-McGinnis for Lakehouse Dry Goods
3)Floral Multi-Isabella by Lila Tueller for Riley Blake

And my FAVORITE fabric of ALL TIME, I love love love aqua and raspberry, what a great pair! Sadly, this fabric is out of production. I search now and then and have acquired several little pouches from Etsy, a destash 29" piece which I bought only 10 hours after it was listed (good timing!) and a fat quarter. I'm not going to tell you what I paid for those. There's a listing on eBay for $25 per fat quarter, which is beyond my love...I refuse to purchase cotton quilt fabric at $100 per yard!
-Full Bloom/Duck Egg French Wallpaper-Belle by Amy Butler for Rowan
UPDATE: Sept 2013-This fabric was re-released! I can't believe it is back! I've ordered nearly 15 yards and plan to make some cute "love" quilts and I just enjoy looking at the folded stack of fabric! YAY!

Quilt Wall

There's a six foot wall that has been used for several different things. A couple years ago, we put up wooden "rails" and I hung perfume samples in paper bags on that wall. We took the rails down for painting. It turned out GORGEOUS! Now I have an excuse to make a 48"x48" quilt to decorate the wall!
